Can someone please inform me of the difference between Option 11C and 11E and how I an determine this (if possible) remotely ?

I have an Option 11 in a hospitality environment and they have given me these two versions that they have different software options written for (and they do not know why) and we are configuring with a new PMS and CA system.

Thanks,

Ted...

Hi,

11E - very old. Overlays load slow. No fibre

11C - Overlays load fast, fibre, started (If I remember correct) at release 22.

The fasted way to determen the 11 type is to do a sysload (Can be done remotely but you need to know the password for the XSL command in LD 143). During start up look for messages that are talking about fibre DB's and PCMCIA cards. The 11E doesn't have fibre and it also doesn't have PCMCIA...

Or you could ask somebody onsite to have a look at the SSC card (CPU) to see if it's possibble to insert PCMCIA cards. If not it's an 11E.

if it's a dual cab. have local talent tell you if they see orange "wire" between the cab's easy way to tell if its fiber..i don't usually get very good remote help in a hosp property.. {sorta like talking to data people}

If it`s possible to access the system, then only load overlay 22. At the REQ-prompt, type inn the command ISS.
The responce will be:

VERSION 1411 Option 11E
VERSION 2111 Option 11C
VERSION 2121 Option 11C running 3.0-sw.

loevis is correct about how to remotely get the system type. No sysload required at that point.
