Difference between MS SQL ODBC SQL Server & SQL Native Client

Does anybody know the Difference between using an MS SQL ODBC SQL Server and a SQL Native Client ODBC ?

In what instances are each one used ?
Which one is better ?

The native client is significantly faster, but you need Accpac 5.4 or higher to use it.
