I understand the base difference between HTTP and HTTPS, the issue is that for a customer I allow the header to be a link to their home site. I originally had the href call HTTPS. When I ran thru the first time Firefox made me add an exception (to get the site's certificate) before I could access the site. My settings should allow for the browser to automatically get the cert. but i guess it does not. After doing this for my customer my boss comes and tells me that using https is wrong and i should use http even though for all our customer's home sites we use https and have no problems. Is there something I am missing here or do i just not understand the difference between these two calls?

HTTPS is something where people need to protect their data by making it encrypted/secured. Like credit card info, social security # or perhap a login area.

HTTPS is not really something to be use for normal data.. Like CNN website for example.

Why?

Personally I think there shouldn't be a protocol HTTP everything should be on HTTPS as a matter of course.

The internet is rife with Identity Thieves , Fraudsters, Conmen, Gansters, and that's just us lot ;-)

Everything should be encrypted in this day and age including every single email.

But that's just me, YMMV!
