Difference between Flash Player 8 & 9 for AS2 movie ?

Hi,

I have a website here that is in AS2 and I'm thinking about exporting to either Flash Player 8 or 9.

Now here's my question:

Is there any advantage exporting to Flash Player 9 over Flash Player 8 when my movie is in AS2 ?

I've heard that Flash Player 9 has performance advantages I just don't know if that applied for AS2 as well...

I have a feeling that AS2 VM in FP9 and FP8 are the same, therefore exporting AS2 to FP9 has no effect and you can play it in FP8 as well. (But may be I'm wrong.)

I've been using a fairly large app that was developed in FP8, and making changes using FP9 and I've seen no problems. Haven't seen any benefits either, but it works, and that's the most important thing.
