difference between bitmap and character mode

When you ask, "...the difference between bitmap and character mode," bitmap versus character mode what? Can you post some commands that distinquish between the two environments for which you are enquiring?

I think that ociruj asked about Oracle Reports. The main difference is that in character mode you may print/display only characters, while in bitmap mode you may add some images. The first one may run in text-based environments like Unix. Besides printing in text mode is much faster.
