I am encountering a problem with verifying backed up files with Backup Exec version 8.5 3572. The logs indicate a failed backup job with the following error..."Difference encountered in file data". I know the file hasn't changed and I receive this error even with backing up only one file and immediately verifying it. I am using software compression on a HP T20 travan scsi drive. I have set the controller setting to what Veritas recommends on thier web site and am using the latest Veritas drivers. I'm running Windows 2000 advance server with service pack 2. if I use the W2K backup app I do not receive these errors. The problem appears to happen with random files. I have seen references to this problem thruout this message board as well as veritas and other message boards but have yet to see a solution or fix. Has anyone resolved this problem short of turning off verify? Is there a fix to this problem?

Thanks.

Hi all,

need some advice on this problem. my job log doesn't indicates any error except from wat i see is the 'Difference encountered in file data.' Before this happen the backup job was failing everyday but with 'OFO: Insufficient system resources exist to initialize OFO'. I did some value changes to the OFO then then the error disappear but now with this error. Our Domino server is access by users base on 24hrs x 7days basic. Any idea wat's wrong? I'am using BE 8 with win2k advance server. Below is the job log

Many thanks!

I am having the same problem. Randomly my job will fail during the verify stage because "Difference encountered in file data." I then get a message "An inconsistency was encountered on the storage media in <devicename>." It usually happens because of files in a specific user's Information Store. Any ideas? Please help. I am running v8.6 on Win 2k SP4.

benewm,

Please don't 'hijack' other threads. This thread is old (Sep 2003). Please start a new thread with your question.
