I know that one can have Direct Inward Dialing with a PRI, or, on a channel configured as DID on a T1. But, Can I have Direct Inward Dialing with a BRI? The manual for the Legend says nothing about it, but, the telco does indeed offer it.

THe one and only time I putzed around with BRI, was when I set one up in my LAB, back in the LUCENT/AVAYA DAYS.

As I recall, BRI took a single COPPER PAIR and sent 2 seperate telephone numbers over it.

The 2 numbers acted like any bodies elses phone numbers, that is, if you called 12345 you rang 12345 and if you called 12346, you rang there. That is, the two numbers were assiged just like seperate copper lines.

D-I-D may be possible, but make sure they are not really talking about PRI.

I'd be willing to bet they are.

BRI was the great thing that never really caught on.

So I doubt if that's what they are really selling.

Good Luck!

Nup, it is BRI, for sure. THey said 1 D channel, and 2 B channels. What you just said sounds like BRI to me, but, they said that they could get one of the BRI channels to emulate a DID trunk. I said that was just dandy, but, I dont think the LEgend will know what to do with it.

I agree, the Legend may not know what to do with it.

HOWEVER, if you have some time to kill, and the Customer can let you experiment, you could build a DID Range and see if it could work.

The down side would be this:

If it did work, you could only get 1 D-I-D call at a time.

Not very efficient, I would think.
