Merlin Magix with Merlin Messaging - I having problems getting a DID to go to the Auto Attendant. I created a mailbox for ext 811 and assigned it to AA #1. Callers get the AA Greeting, but need to press *8 to transfer. I tried renumbering a calling group as 811 that overflowed to 770, but just get a "your call is being transferred to the operator" message until I created a mailbox for that extension, but now the MB 811 answers.

Post a print of your Dial Plan, Calling Group info, and DID number range.

The DID ends in 811.

Make an adjunct 811, and cover it to voice mail.

Make a mailbox for 811, and assign the Auto Attendant to it.

If callers need to dial *8 to be able to transfer, instead of just dialing the extension number they want, the selector codes in the Auto Attendant that match the leading digit of the extension numbers are not set to Direct Extension Transfer.

You could also renumber your Voice Mail Calling Group from 770 to 811, which would cause the incoming call to be answered by the Auto Attendant. That would confuse anyone that doesn't have a one touch button to get messages, they would need to dial 811 instead of 770.

Thank you. I tried the adjunct method. My issue is the need to press *8 to transfer. I'll try renumbering MM to 811, but hesitate to do this to so many people. I had hoped there was a better way.

I had an epiphany - check the AA selector codes! Someone else had recorded the AA, but didn't set the appropriate selector code to DXT. Original programming of a calling group 811 with that DID overflowing to 770 and a MB assigned to the AA works like it always has. Lesson learned - check everyone else's work as well as my own. Thank you for your help, Jim.
