I'm new to programming the merlin system (legend/MLX). It is a R2 system with 40 DID lines through 800 DID module, using (3) 408 GS/LS-MLX modules and a 012 basic telephone module. Right now all my DID are assigned to extensions in the system (ext# 400-439), NOT ALL EXTENSIONS ARE IN USE. I would like to use ext# 420 to be used to connect to a fax machine. Currently ext# 420 is connected to port 20 on a 408 GS/LS-MLX module. I would like to connect a fax machine to port#39 (ext 7138) on the 012 module board. I have tested outgoing faxing and can dial out using 9, access to send. How can I redirect the incoming DID line xxx-7420 (ext 420) to the fax machine?

Renumber the 012 port for the desired DID. You'll have to renumber the unused MLX port first.

How do I do this? I do not have SPM software, and are programing through an MLX phone

Go into sysrenumber, single, extensions, enter old ext 420 and renumber to 7119 (set up space for port 20) then go to extensions, 7138, and renumber to 420.
