Hi Guys

I'm In need of some info with regard the installation of a DID

This is my issue

1) Does each line have to be installed as individual trunk line ie we are getting 7 DID lines
2) Does each DID # need the same prefix
3) and also what is the command to do so change inc-call-handling-trmt trunk is the command I am using

The way DID service works is the Central Office will send you the number of digits that you requested, 3, 4, 5, etc.. Since you have 7 DID trunks you can have 7 simultaneous calls. Typically the Carrier will 'sell' you blocks of DID numbers that you assign to the stations. You should not have to do anything with the incoming-call-handling table.

You will need to know how the CO has the trunks configured: wink start or immediate start, touch-tone or rotary.

Once you have the trunk group created in the PBX and connected to the carrier, you should be able to do 'list trace tac [TG Tac}', place an inbound call to a DID number and watch the call complete.

Thank you

So I gather that all DID lines can come in I one T1(Trunk Group) and then be programmed to the individual extensions via command list trace tac ?
Or I'm I missing something

You would add the extensions in the pbx via: add station xxxx (xxxx = length you arranged your extensions). Then, depending on what amount of digits the carrier is sending down the TG you would then match them to your individual extensions you created. There are several ways to manipulate digits if the number the carrier sends down doesn't match your extension, but that's a bigger conversation. The list trace tac command is just so you can watch real time how inbound calls hit the TG and then ultimately the extension you created.

No. The list trace command is mearly a tool to help you diagnose what's wrong. The carrier should have given you a block of DID numbers. Tey become your station extensions for the pones that you want to be called directly from the outside.

My concern really is how to Map the DID trunks to the extensions

I have been trying to find the command to have this done

Or just the regular Incoming destination programming on the Trunk Group

Right that's it wpetilli the DID numbers do not match the Extensions at all
That is the aspect that is giving me the most problems

The list trace tac command of the TG should show you what numbers are coming in from the carrier. If the circuit is ISDN the command would be 'cha inc-call-handling-trmt' and from there you can play with that table.

Thanks this clarifies a lot we are getting 7 digit lines coming from the providers and our PBX dial plan deals with 4 digits, the change inc-call-handling-trmt trunk-group xxx seems to be what I need to do but do you have any idea what the CPN/BN field is about ?

Also does each DID number need to be programmed into an individual Trunk Group meaning lets say 7 trunk groups for each extension

You can try just putting an entry in for:

number Len: 7
number digits: 'you can put in the first 4 or 5 digits of what the carrier is sending'
del: 3

the rest you can leave blank.

So I assume it's not necessary to put all the numbers that the carrier is gives us eg if one of the numbers given is 636-4421 I can just 636-4 in the digits section

exactly.. you can capture a wide range if things are setup

Great sadly enough our carrier is sending very different numbers for each DID line so one maybe 636-4441 and a next will be 679-4423 making that method impossible

@Weptilli Thanks again once my provider comes in I will let you know how it goes

you know you can reject those did numbers, just ask for another block

It actually is not an issue for me as we will be giving senior staff these DID numbers to reduce the cost of renting for Analogue POT lines
we have a hybrid IP/Analogue system but the cost of Direct Line rental is very high giving users DID lines will save us a ton of money

you can put individual matching entries, but if there's alot it's a pain to manage. There's also a limit, but it looks like none of those will be an issue for you.

Adaptations and AAR analysis table will resolve your issue

7deedtz I think you are correct but AAR and Routing Tables can help for my outgoing calls

AAR is for internal and Adaptations you have both for Incoming and outgoing.
