I have a Internet Conection based on a box with 2k server and its on a USB ADSL Modem but i cannot get it to be shared among other boxes on the network

Has anyone a clue if you can even share this kind of Internet Acess? I know u can if the conection is on a ADSL Router or if the modem is atached to a NIC card but it doesnt seem to work with this USB modem.

Thanks for your help

Yes,

you need a proxy program such as WINPROXY 4.0, then you just set up a transparent proxy for all users. The only downside is that certain java applications which use specific UDP ports need to be enable manually through winproxy and their help site aint worth shit.

If you are using one of the little Alcatel USB modems (looks like a sting ray) and it connects using dial-up networking you don't need a proxy program just enable internet connection sharing and it works fine. Routing and remote access will not work for this type of modem though, am not sure why, it just doesn't show up as a usable device.

enable sharing on the host computer with internet connection and be sure to configure the IP of the client DEFAULT GATEWAY TO THE HOST IP and the DNS AS WELL.
