I have a standard solomon report that I am accessing using solomon 5.5. I want to amend this report using crystal 8.5 but herein lies my problem. Once I saved the report on my hard drive, I tried to access it using Crystal but whenever I tried to open the report I received the error message "Dictionary not found". I looked at a previous post (thread149-242799) and checked to see if any of those suggestions applied to my situation but sadly none did.

Since I couldn't open this report for editing, I created an SQL statement which I ran in query analyzer to retrieve the data I was looking for. This worked well and I got the information I was seeking but I encountered the same problem/error "Dictionary not found" when I tried to open this report using crystal. I can access the report in Excel without incident but I seem to be getting this error with both the standard and customized reports when I try to use Crystal Reports.

Can someone please assist?

Thanks................

It sounds like the reports you are trying to access were based on a Crystal Dictionary File - similar to a Business View - it is a semantic layer that was designed to sit between the datasource and the report.

Your report is looking for this dictionary file - which should have a .dc5 file extension (or something like that).

I hope this points you in the right direction.

Cheers
