Dictionaries supported in 9.0? Either way, good idea to use ?

I am in the process of building a report library for distribution to my customer base. I am running CR and CE 8.5, and would like to use dictionaries to distribute report and formula, and to provide a nice metalayer over the data.

I reviewing CR9.0 in beta 'Patagonia', I recall hearing from a CD Prod Mgr that dictionaires might be phased out, and that if my goal is to move to CR9.0 (which it is, in order to be able to re-use/share formula between reports) I might want to wait to produce the library in CR9.0, and that I might consider not using dictionaries since they might not 'convert' to CR9.0

Does anyone know if in fact Dictionaries are still in CR9.0, and if so, I might create part of the report/formula library via dictionairies, otherwise I would avoid using them.

IF they are still used in CR9.0, are there reasons NOT to use them I may want to be aware of..looking for advice from someone who has used dictionaries and can steer me toward or away from them.

Thanks,

I avoid them, and have for years now because if the database changes, you're in for a lot of maintenance.

I've also heard that they're to die, and I think that they should.

If you want what you term a "metalayer", use Views or SP's, they're faster and the maintenance is easier, and your SQL talents will transpose into more marketable skill$sss.
