I have inherited an NT 4.0 server system that is primarily used for FTP transfers from mobile laptops. I would like these laptops to be able to have internet access as that is where we have our email server. Unfortunately all of these laptops when dialing in receive an ip and subnet that is not compatible with the rest of the network and therefore are unable to access the internet. DHCP, RAS, BOOTP and LMHOSTS are not set up at this time. Where does the server obtain the ip address for the dialup laptops? I would like to change this to access the rest of our network. Also, I cannot connect to the server with a static ip address nor can I change or add routing using route add or route change.
