One of my telephony servers uses two dialogic D82 PCI cards that terminate on 66 type blocks. Currently these cables are about 6 feet long, but my VP is trying to convince me to convert the server to rack mount - meaning the cables will need to extend about 25 feet from their current location. Is anyone familiar with the cables used on these cards and/or know if longer cables are made that will allow this move to take place without having to be re-invented?

Are your cables 4 or 8 conductor modular plug ended or something else?

Page 7 of says that a two or four wire connection is supported (depending on the emulation) via a DB-36 interface. Ugh.

I'd leave the cable in place, then go to the 99cent store and get a handful of those 8-wire gender benders (couplers). With those and some "regular" phone cords or data patch cords, you can easily extend the existing octopus cable without much thought about wiring details.

That being the case with a DB36, if you want a more elaborate cable design you could have a custom cable made to the length and config that fits your application. There is a company in Southern California called Cable Exchange that does custom cables that has been my choice since Vari-Tronics closed their doors several years ago.

You can check them out @
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses
I'll investigate all of the suggestions - I was hoping that there actually would be a replacement type cable available, but it looks as if I will have to be creative on this one.

Not move the server at all - that's my preference anyway.
