Firstly please excuse my complete lack of knowledge!

We have currently have a KXTD1232 system which has just broken down and is going to be replaced with a KXTDA30. Currently we use standard analogue modems (plugged into the same extension as phone) to dial out from a contact database.

I have been advised that this method will no longer work as the modem will not work alongside the new phones (KXT7633) - ie the phone will not dial when the modem does.

I have found snippets of info regarding plugging the modem into the XDP port of the phone, but this may have referred to an older system - anyone know if this will work?

Grateful for any advise, trying to avoid a software solution as I think it's going to get expensive and over-complicated for what we are trying to do.

why not dial thru the phones via the usb and software ?

Well we have the added expense of usb modules plus I don't know what software comes with them? I've been told if we go that route we will need Desktop Telephony Assistant which seems over-complicated for what we are trying to achieve.

what you describe may work if you have the
7633 telephone on a DHLC port

Hi.
A UK TDA 30 will provide from the box.

4 Digital Ports DPT.
4 SLT Ports.
4 XDP Ports.

So aslong as your phone has the SLT connection on it (7630????) the you can connect the modem and as long as programming has been carried out then it will work.

This will require pins 2&5 and 1&6 (BT1308) to be cabled.
Or the blues and greens on CAT5.
The above is under the conditions that the SLT ports have not been used for other functions!

Also they will need to be paralled with each other.
I know this works. I have done the same on site with a Warehouse operative who has a Desk phone and a DECT. You can dial out on the DECT and see the number on the DPT Phone. Your modem solution will be no different.

yes but he will only be able to do that on 4 phones

Yes indeed. Depends how many phones they did this through on the existing 1232.

Thanks both for your help, I'll pass this on to the guy fitting the system and see where we get.
