We have a BCM 400 that we are renting the IP phones and system services to the customer as a centrex product with a PRI.
Because of this, we have to allow the customer to dial '911' directly, instead of dialing 9 (access) then 911 to comply with an FCC ruling that covers centrex.
I know that there is a dialing plan area under general settings that appears to have a 911 DN and it mentions enbloc dialing. I tried to set up dialing translations in the AA but was unsuccesful.
Any help would be appreciated

Do you want to dial 911 with the 9 inserted before the 911. If so you need to use call routing and destination codes on the BCM not the call pilot.

Hope this helps

You might want to increase the length of digits in the dial plan on the BCM in general settings ----- dn lengths public number as well. The default for the digit 9 is 3 you will need to change this to 4.

Thanks for the replies.
I read thru my BCM books and figured it out last night. I had to dump the '9' destination code and build new ones using 3 digits plus different absorption lengths and wild cards. Works like a charm. It had been several months since I had fooled around with destination codes so my brain didn't want to function.

You can "cheat" a little bit using the wildcards if you don't want to type in 912,913, etc. Build the destination codes as the following:

911
9911
9A
99A
91A

Point to the proper routes, absorb as necessary, and you're all set.

I would have put an example up but I am in the UK an figured the detination digits would be different.I did not want to confuse the issue. We dial 999 for emergency services rather than 911.

Thanks for all your help and replies, guys. If I hadn't been albe to figure it out, you sure would have lighted the way

Did you get it setup ok.

I was thinking about an FAQ for this on my site.

Do you think it would be beneficial????

Marshall

Yeah, it set up fine once I went to multiple digit destination codes. After I entered the first one and tested it (911), it came back to me and I built enough codes and wildcards to cover 0, long distance, and all the local NXXs we have.

I think a FAQ would be helpful.
