Ok, here is the situation...

We have a VG248 and on this VG248 there are about 20 analog devices hanging off of it right now. All devices are pretty much configured the same way (excluding DN and Descriptions), with the same Dial Plans and CSS. But from this ONE fax machine hanging off of the VG248, you can not dial these two specific phone numbers. But the wierd thing is you can call those two specific numbers from any other device on the same VG248. Anyone come across this before?

Also, I have pulled the fax machine out of the equation and put in an analog phone and problem is still there.

Not saying this is the cure - but resetting the VG224 has solved a multitude of ills on our systems.

Will keep that in mind, but of course that will be an after hours ordeal.

What do you see when you debug the call?

Turns out what the problem was....

Under the VG248 configuration for the DN within the CCM(4.1(3))

Line Settings for this Device
External Phone Number Mask
214555XXXX <- what it should be
2145553XXXX <- what it was

Once i removed the extra 3, it went back to working just fine and able to call out long distance... Not sure WHY it was glitching because of that, but as soon as I changed it back to what it SHOULD be it worked perfect...

Any thoughts?

You had too many digits in the string and it continued to wait until you met its expectations, but you never did. you dialed 10 digits not 11.

But I was still able to dial local calls... Plus the number that had the extra digit wasnt the number I was dialing, it was the external mask for the DN.

The PSTN did not like your caller id / ANI

You were sending too many digits in the caller id string distorting it

Your LD provider (I bet these were LD calls) would not allow the call since it did not recognize the number

Or maybe a local CO switch somewhere did not like the ANI you were sending and did no tlet the call past

happened to me a few times when i fat fingered a mask on an ip phone
