I have an issue with possible toll fraud. How do I lock down Octel from dialing out?

What type of system do you have and what is the software release?

It is either an Octel 250 of 350. Not sure of the release as of yet.

You can change the restriction level (Like NCOS and CLS) on the TN ports so they are unable to dial out. But you will have to log the ports back in once you make a change.

Or replace TN, NCOS and CLS with your PBX "restriction" buzzwords. Sorry.

In Menu 2-2, set the Verify Extension Numbers option to Yes.
This will prevent a user from transfering to an outside phone number. And will only allow transfers to a mailbox that has a valid extension.

There is also an option on Menu 6-1, Block Automated Attendant Transfers. Put a 9 or 8 or what ever you use to access outside lines in there

Yes as Kxboy said that is the best way to do it.

OK, better information. This is Modular Messaging. What do I need to check?

I say the best way to do it is in both layers: The mail system, and the PBX. Inevitably, one system gets modified over time and a hole opens up. If you have two layers, you're twice as protected.

Ok so you id not know you had a MM system?

Just lock down the pbx ports and make sure outcall is not allowed. you can also specifie what numbers to not use as ext nymbers in the AA
