I'm trying to dial into our VMX 100 off site. It's been a while and I don't remember what the script is for Procomm. Any help would be apprieciated.

Hi BayAreaPhoneTech

Calling from outside to your VMX-100.
If you call your VMX-100 group number and press ###5, the modem tone is heard.
Hereafter you can log on from your PC with Procomm.
The data setup should be 1200 bit/sec, 7 bits, even parity and 1 stopbit.
Use a modem that can handle "bell mode".
If you control more than one VMX-100, it is nice to use the Procomm dial-up list.
We have quite a few customers running VMX-100 since 1992.
Best regards doktor.

Hi again

I forgot to tell you that also AT commands can be used in this case, as you might know.
So, calling your VMX-100 can be done in this way:

ATDTxxxxxxx,,,,###5

Where the xxxx is the group hunt number for the VMX-100 and the ,,, indicates a pause.

Thanks doktor.

I was able to get in, but I don't think I can modify anything. I need to change the COS on one of the MB and I cannot find the command to do that. I'll admit it's been a long time since I've worked on a VMX so it just may be a case of a refresher. I found the VMX manual but it talks about the CAT terminal instead of doing programming through Procomm. Thanks again.

It is more simple to use the Procomm or HyperTerminal.
But CAT is important, if the s/w is to be upgraded or back-ups is to be taken.

Call again if the problems still has not been solved..

How do I identify the group number? I am trying to initially setup dial-in access into our Octel 100, but I did not understand what you meant by Group number. Is this the main number for accessing voice mail from a regular phone? If so, when I enter ### it says that they are not recognized characters. Is there a way of checking to see if the Octel is setup to actually receive incoming calls to perform maintenance? Sorry, I am a newbie on the Octel.

KevinHunter, Sure...If you can call the telephone number (xxx-xxx-xxxx or whatever) and the VMX 100 answers, then you may use ###5 to access the modem.

The same sequence applpies to Octel 200/300's as long as the system parameter for modem access has not been disabled..

When I have tried that I get a recording from the Octel that says, "The pound key is not an available selection".

If it is a VMX 100, when you press # you should hear " please enter your mailbox number". That is the defined key to begin the mailbox logon sequence.

Do you know what telephone number users dial to logon and get their messages?

AT&T/Inter-Tel/Octel/Lucent/Avaya and now Adomo...does it get any better?? ;-)

When I try it manually, I have to press * then it asks if I have a mailbox on the system to press # followed by the mailbox number. From there it will not accept more than 1 # sign and continues to ask for a mailbox number. Is there a way to verify that remote access is functional on this system, or are all of them setup for remote access? Do I actually need a mailbox on the system? Do I need to setup a maintenance mailbox?

It doesn't sound like a VMX 100. Are you positive it is?

You can send me the number and I'll check it out by calling it and listening to the prompts.
