I've just installed a Cisco IP Phone system to replace a Shoreline phone system by Shoreware. The shoreline system included some desktop software that would integrate with outlook and the global address book. The client took the form of a small tool bar that would sit right above my taskbar (start bar), and as I would type names into the search field it would auto-complete results. Once I had typed enough characters i.e. John Sm, I would see all the phone numbers for John Smith. I would use my mouse to select the number I wanted to call, the phone on my desk would ring, I would pick up the handset then the phone would dial the desired number.

I have been playing with the "unsupported" Cisco Telephony Service Provider, but it seems sub-par. Is anyone aware of a software solution that will do what I'm describing?

Thanks,
Scott

You would need to check out some of the custom services people have written. I have found that these are typically quite pricey. Google Cisco Call Manager Custom Services and see what you get.
