We recently changed our # to get an outside trunk from 9 to 6. Since then you dial 6 + your outside # and there is a long pause before it actually dials. Before it dialed instantly. Any help much appreciated.
Sorry, here are the specs that I know of. We are running IP Office Version 6.0 (07). Not sure what type of trunks we have. I am pretty new to this so you may have to be pretty detailed.
I believe I fixed it. In IP office mgr, I opened System and Telephony tab. The dial delay was set to 10 so I changed it to 1. Seems to be working now. If this is not correct please let me know. Thanks for the quick responses.
Westi, you are the one who gave me the procedure on how to change outside line access. Thanks for you help again.
Here it is.
open IP Office Manager program
retrieve a configuration from the phone system
change the shortcode 9N blablabla to be 6N or 7N blablabla
save the configuration with a merge
I remember that one
I would not use 1 second as it is very short,
the dial delay specifies how long the system waits until it thinks the number is complete, I usually use the default 4 seconds because if you have to look the number up while you are dialing 1 second will time out very quick.
the shortcode should not have changed the dial delay timer so that must have happened on a different occasion
Yeah, I have taken a look at everything else I can think of. I still have the problem. It takes 10secs after you dial an outside line for it to start ringing. Never was like that before. Not sure where else to go from here.
@h382, be careful on that as if you make that shortcode when someone dials the shortcode to change their forwarded number it will match before they finish and try dialling out whatever they have entered.
Being that they are on 4.0, I would assume they are using ARS and dialing a 9 for outside access, so the shortcode for changing the forwarding number should not be affected.
Unless I am just overlooking something. I haven't had an issue normally with this. Of course I have a button setup for Call Forwarding All, so there is no need to dial the *07*N# shortcode.
I never noticed the ARS part, if you put it in ARS then your'e ok, I had a customer who thought they knew everything make the mistake of putting it in system shortcodes that's all.
Ok, I have three sixes so here are all three. Yes, did change many of my short codes. I'm sure it is possible I missed something.
