I had an incident yesterday at one of my buildings where the staff needed to dial 911. They had dial tone and all lines where open. but they couldn't get it to work.
I went to the building to try and recreate the calling problem. What I found was: It seemed like the system was looking for 7 or 10 digits and once it realized the number was 911 it dialed it and worked, but this took about 15 to 20 seconds before it rang. Again once it rang I reached the 911 operator.

Is there a way around the delay?

1) 911 Should access the 70 Pool. So, insure that you have lines (or at least 1 line) in the 70 Pool.

2) Build an "ALLOWED LIST" showing 911 & Set up "ALLOWED TO" Permissions for the extensions that are restricted so they can access it. (That is, if you have any restricted extensions).

3) With the "Later Versions" you can set it to "ALLOW 911", and then they do not have to dial a leading 9.

There are other factors that can be considered, depending on how the system is set up.

MerlinMan thank you! The only pool that I have is pool 70 so I am good there. I do not have to dial a 9 before 911 or ever to get an outside line. I am not sure if there is an allowed list so I will look at that to see if this fixes the delay before it connects the call to the outside world.

By the looks of reading previous post in this forum, MerlinMan has a lot of knowledge as do others so if anyone has any further insite please feel free to add to MerlinMans post. I will let you know if the allowed list works.

Thanks again!
