Hey all, using an SX-200-ICP with 6 ls ports.

I am having an odd problem where sometimes if me or my g/f dial 9 and then a number the 200 tries to dial out on the intercom line.

The intercom line does not offer a dial tone and thus cannot call out.

This line is in trunk group 1, trunk #6. The line is normally partnered with a regular pots line, but i don't have a pots land line.

I am thinking that the 200 trys to grab the highest trunk number that appears to be energized. If it thinks it is, then it will try to dial on it.

This doesn't happen all the time normally it will grab trunk 2 if 9 is dialed. (Trunk 1 is a cable modem phone line but unless trunk 2 (a magicjack line) is busy I'll never get trunk 1).

So basically i need to be able to tell the 200 don't dial on trunk 6 ever, but grab 1 or 2.

Thanks and hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Jim

If all the trunks are in one group, the system will pick the trunks in the order in which they were entered in form 16.
Then, the group is deemed either terminal or circular hunt.
Sounds like your group is terminal.
You could remove the offending trunk and put it in a new group. Create another dial plan using 8 or something in form 26.
Or put it on a key on all sets?

Dave

You can't believe anything you read... unless of course it's this.

Hi Dave, your right the trunk numbers go 6 5 4 3 2 1, the intercom line is on number 6.

Correct again, all trunk nums are defined as terminal.

I had thought of giving it its own trunk group, but (newbie moment), what would influence the sets to not try to outdial on it? I suspect as long as its assigned an extension and a multikey is assigned to the sets, it still could answer the intercom?

One other thing, what about COR? I was looking at works setup for blocking 911's from fax machines and LD from certain COR members. Is there a way to make a COR that would simply not allow the set to dial out on that line at all?

*thinking out loud*

Thanks!

Jim

Jim, On a 200 a trunk must be in a trunk group to allow outbound calling.

Trunk group Membership is not required if the line is inbound only.

Trunk group menbership does not influence inbound calls regardless.

COR is typically used to define what toll groups a phone can dial. LD, Local, Overseas.

To Block access to a trunk you can use COR but more likely you would use tenanting. Tenanting can be set up directionally to allow inbound access but not outbound if required.
