I inherited an old Toshiba Satellite 100CS laptop. It has windows 95 and Microsoft IE 4.0. I can get dailup to connect, but browser won't work. I try to reinstall IE 4.0 from a borrowed CD-ROM and it won't install because IT needs to go to the internet to get install!! Error says something about getting a "standalone" version, but I can't find anywhere to download this (from another computer) so i can instal straight from disk.

HELP!

You download just about any broswer version you want from the link in faq608-4540

Thanks guys, but will the downloaded browser try to link to the Internet for install modules? If so I am still screwed. I need a full standalone version that doesn't need to get to the Internet until After it is installed. I also wonder if the Toshiba laptop has some of its own software causing the problem being able to get top the WEB.
I'll try these downloads Monday and let you know what happens. THANKS! I'm still new on this website.

As a second or third crack at the problem, make sure your Winsock service stacks are right. Use the utility discussed in faq779-4625
