hi,

i've got a user who dials in from home to connect to our network. how do i go about finding the setting for allowing the modem to accept incoming calls ? If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

what kind of modem on the receiving end? If using the hayes command set than setting s0=1 will have the modem answer on 1st ring. Then write the profile so it is there thenext time the machine is powered up.
This should be covered in the modem manual.

its a Zoom 2928 with a lucent chipset. If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

Also check to see if you have 'Dial Up Server' on your computer. For w95 can be downloaded from microsoft site. W98 will have it included. This will not only answer on ring, but will only allow users with the correct password.
