XP Home sp 2 with BT Broadband Basic and an Alcatel modem.

The BT Broadband networking connection settings correctly install but then disappear after each reboot. ('Network Connections' folder displays the LAN connection only)

The connection is also dropped shortly after the ADSL connection is established. Once the homepage has loaded the connection drops.

The modem drivers have been reinstalled to no avail. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

yea, first off your SP2 has disabled the CPU SAVINGS settings option. with each power cycle. i am more or less an IT/Network man, but i know it can be found in the "computer management" section of the computer. you can set the computer to allow it to save your settings with each reboot (power cycle)
as far as the connection dropping thing, i would have to have a bit more information, what it sounds like is your either missing a filter, or a filter has gone bad, needs to be replaced. DSL services were created to be more reliable than Dial up Thru a telco phone line, so if any type of connection is dropped you know its not a phone line problem its more likely to be a filter issue
