Hello,

I do tech support for an ISP and I have a customer with a problem. I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

The problem is this: She cannot access any web pages or her e-mail, I went through all the setting and everything seemed fine, so I had her ping the gateway and she got 100% on that then I had her ping we got the message that it couldn't find to check the name ect...so I figured she had a DNS problem so I went through and changed her DNS settings from automaticly obtain a DNS to specify a DNS server and put in the correct numbers.

Then I had her restart her computer and get connected and had her ping again and again it didn't work(same message) so then I had her ping the numbers:66.218.71.86(yahoo) while I pinged the same set of numbers. I got 100% she got the same error. What could the problem be? (She has XP BTW)

Thanks in advance,

Cody

OK, I think I got this problem fixed.

I went a head and deleted the dail-up connection, and make a new one. Then I had her go into her modem configuration(cause at this point she couldn't even connect.) Her port speed was set to 156k or something like that so I had her drop it down to 57k(as close to 56 as I could get) then everything seemed to be fine. I don't know if that will work for someone else who has a similar problem but then again it might.
