I've a Avaya Partner system I'm trying to program myself so far thing are not going so well when the phone rings and I go to pickup the line I get a dialtone then the line act like it dialing, and its the same for all three ext.

Yes I could do all that is just that like if you would call me and I pickup the phone, once I pickup the handset it will dial even if someone is on the line. and the next thing I notice is that I can not get any voice mail, how do I setup my voice mail from start.

"when the phone rings and I go to pickup the line I get a dialtone then the line act like it dialing"

Sounds like you may have your phones in Hunt Group 7, which is designed only for the ports of the Voice Mail unit. If you have your programming overlay, go into system programming, dial #505-7, then press "Next Item". This will display Ext. 10's setting, and check the 2nd line, it should say "2-Not Assigned". If it says "1-Assigned", press 2, then press "Next Item" again for the next extension, continue until you come back to Ext. 10.

Figure out what extensions are your voice mail (if you have one) and make sure that they are the ONLY extensions assigned to #505-7

A dialtone? Dialing automatically? Sounds like External Hotline (#311). Should be set to nothing on that extension.

Thank To all ever thing seem to be working fine now just have to do some fine tuning. again Thanks one last problem I just find when the voice mail answer it dont let me leave a message the line start to ring again. what can this be. Acs R4.0 C01

Hi rudebbwoy,
Now it sounds like you don't have the voicemail ports programmed to hunt group 7. As TouchToneTommy indicated, the voicemail ports (all) must be programmed to hunt group 7 (#505, group 7, make sure the voicemail extensions are set to "1" - assigned). No other extensions can be programmed into that group. Does the voicemail say something like "transferring to the operator"? If it does, then this is the problem.
Incoming lines are assigned to the attendant (voicemail) by assigning the lines (#206, hunt group 7, line 01, 02, 03...). Again, "1" is assigned.

Also dont forget Automatic VMS Cover (#310) for all extensions wwith voicemail boxes. Sends callers into VM after an individual phone rings. You can change the rings globally with #117.

You might consider purchasing the manuals from Avaya. I know they're not the cheapest things in the world, but who doesn't want the answers right there on paper?
