Quick and simple question (hopefully)...

I was onsite today with a customer and she was some questions about dial-tone generation. She ran a trace on her ext, see below:

Everytime she pressed the speaker button, her phone got dial-tone from either IPSI 01a or 01b, but why did tone receiver show 01AXXnn and should the system load balance dial-tone generation across both IPSI's??

Dedicated tones is set to yes for B, but System Tones is Active for 01A, so what CM's preference for dial-tone etc???


The customer has CM5.2.1, S8800 servers with G650 Cabs, all DCP handsets.

axx01 is the ETR port 1 of the board

dialtone comes from tone clock on tone-clock or IPSI board, mg resource.
IPSI is multi-functional board, clocking, IP ethernet interface for TDM bus to PN, full time enhanced receiver ports even when the IPSI ethernet function is standby.

going off-hook on a phone may look for resources out of the PN where the phone resided.
cheapest resources are used first even if in another PN.

ETR-PT (8) DTMF,CC-TTR,CC-CPTR,MFCR,GPTD are provided by IPSI, tone clock boards,
IPSIs have 8 TTR resources embedded within them
TN2182 ETR-PT (8), Clock, Tone Generators / Detectors, Call Classifier
TN748/C/D DTMR-PT (4), GPTD-PT (2)
TN744/B CLAS-PT (8)
TN744C ETR-PT (8)
G250 (analog, BRI) has 8 TTR resources
G250 (DCP, DS1) has 16 TTR resources
350 has 15 TTR resources
G430 has 32 TTR resources
G450 has 64 TTR resources
