I have a 2 cabnet 150 Pro that I moved a credit card machine off of a analog adapter and put it on a analog port. After I did this I am starting to lose dial tone and functionality on other analog ports. Any ideas?
I recently had some analog problems with my 2 cabinet 150 that has been running about 6 years, but I was having them not ring rather than losing dial tone. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting the problem, and fortunately I had another one nearby that was out of service so I could play musical part.
At first I thought it was the power supply, because I swapped them out and the problem vanished - for 2 weeks. Then I tried swapping out the boards themseves, reloading the system and a host of other things, racking my brain in frustration.
Finally I had enough and swapped out the main CPU card. End of problem to this day. I was also amazed that the replacement CPU card only cost about $260 from resale.
Keep in mind a couple of things if you decide to swap out the CPU card... You can't hot swap that one, you NEED to shut it down. You will also need to transfer your own flash memory card to the new board - which is easy - it's just big fancy compact flash-like card. You may also need to transfer the modem card as well (works the same way). Make sure that you put the cards in the right slots and ground yourself with a wrist strap (especially this time of year).
When you fire up the system it should come right up with no problems - that flash card is really the heart of the system.
When I talked to the Siemens techs after replacing the card and telling them that was the solution, I got an "oh yeah, we should have thought of that - the main board handles all the DTMF and ring generator stuff".
