Hello all,

I'm trying to resolve an out-dialing issue on MICS 7.1 w/ PRI.

When a user dials out, there is a long delay between the last digit dialed and the first ring audible.

I have tweaked this setting in the past for a local college but I'll be snooker-doodled, I can't recall the name of the feature setting I tweaked to resolve this issue in the past.

Looking through all of my MICS manuals is a leading me to a dead end and blurry vision (old age ya' know[sadeyes]).

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Melissa

Check Dial Time Out, under System programing and Dialing plan

I have reduced that setting from the default(6) down to (4), there is no apparent change but users do have to dial faster now...

Are you in a 7 or 10 digit dialing area? the reason I ask is if it's 7 then check under dialing plan and make sure it is not set for 10. If it is set to 10 then the system will wait a couple of seconds for the last digits before it sends the call out. if that's the case you can move your dial timer back to 6.

Pressing the pound key (#) after dialing the phone number will send the call immediately on most PRIs. Pound says 'end of dial' to the carrier. Most customers will scream if asked to press one additional button though.

To be more clear on whats suggested above....

Dialing Time Out is only for how long the system should wait for the slow poke to dial before it disconnects them for taking to bloody long. Actually 4 is the default.

Check to see if you are 7 or 10 digit dialing for your local area then program it so, its a bit tricky....under Dial Plan/Public/Pub DN Lengths/ Press Next when you see Show Prefix, then Show when you see Default and Change to 7 or 10. If this was your issue don't forget to put your Dialing Timeout back the way it was or adjust as needed.
