Is it possible to create multiple short codes that will force a phone to dial out on a given number (or give the appearance through caller id) ? Similar to the one code in the shortcode tab of the user's properties(code [9]1N; Tel Number 1Ns111-222-3333 Feature Dial3K1) Can another code be created and an extension use either one?
Or is there another way to allow users to call out on different lines?

All you would need to do here is designate different outgoing line groups for your lines and create a separate access code for those lines that will force the calls to dial out on these lines - which can also have alternate caller ID. You can create as many access codes as you like by duplicating "[9]N;", "[9]1N;", etc, but substitute 9 for another access code. (i.e. 8, 80, 81, etc) You would assign the line group ID of the short code to the outgoing line group you've assigned to your specfic lines.

Are you using a PRI T1 or Analog trunks? I see you used the Dial3K1 so I would assume PRI or T1. One thing is that the Service Provider has to allow you to send out the number on a PRI. Then you can use the [9]Nsi1112223333 to send out different phone numbers from each extension. If you are lucky and the DID match the extenstion then you can use [9]Nsi111222E and it will insert the extention at the end of the out bound caller ID.

I use "si" in front of the number because the i is what sends the info to the National Database for Caller ID name. If you do not dip there to get the name some calls will not complete if the called party is using Privacy Director.

In my experiance if the line is a T1 the provider can only send out one number and they have to send it out...they can not allow you to send the number.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help guys. We are using a PRI
I created multiple user short codes to allow them to dial out on any of their lines
[80]Nsi1112223333
[81]Nsi1112224444

You could have done that with system short codes also and saved a lot of typing :) Or with restrictions if you only want certain users to be able to do this.
