dial in login in to wrong server 1

Using 98 DUN into network via shiva box. Intermittently can't login to correct home server.

Home server is SAGE, most of time logs in correctly and maps drives all fine.

Sometimes though I connect to OREGANO and this causes problems because the container login script maps drives to OREGANO\wrk ... OREGANO\data\users ... etc. but this fails because directories are not on that server.

I have home server set in user profile, have tree and context settings in 3.3 client.

I suspect this is a Shiva issue.

Any ideas?

On the client, if you have sefault tree(or whatever it is) the client will try and authenticate to any server in the tree. Take out the tree setting and put a default server in.

Also, in the login script, instead of putting something like map h:=vol1/home, instead put map h:=servername/vol1:home.

This way no matter what server you authenticate to it will map the drive correctly. Lee Smith

I think I got this one solved now.

In Inetcfg IPX Expert configuration I found that Oregano had Override nearest server with Sage as its Alias.

So it seems that sometimes Oregano would respond GNS saying it was SAGE.

Ok, unfortunately the problem still exists! Users still logging into Oregano and trying to map drives there rather than defaul home server SAGE.

I downed the Oregano server and now users are logging into PARSLEY server.

Once again this is very intermittent. I suspect somewhere in the DUN / login process Sage is not advertising itself until after authentication.

Any ideas?
