What steps do I have to take in order to make it so I can dial in without manual transfer. I'm fairly sure there is a barrier code that I have to enter, and assign a line on the system for direct dial, just not sure about how to do it.

I assume you're talking about dialing in with SPM. Assign a line to remote access, either dedicated, or shared during night service. Make a barrier code, and then assign that barrier code to system programming. Call in on the remote access line, after 2 rings you get a stutter dial tone, enter the barrier code, you get dial tone again, enter *10 and you're transferred to the internal modem.

If you have DIDs, renumber the remote access code from 889 to an available DID instead of using a CO line as remote access. Still use the barrier code.

Here's what I do:

If you have a sparte CO port and a spare 012 or 016 port,
and if you have auto attendant (not messaging)

loop the analog port back to the co port, setup the co port as dedicated to spm and set a barrier code, renumber the analog to an extension if not already and create a mailbox to transfer to that analog which will ring the co port and get answered, then enter the barrier code and *10.

if you have a spare line you can use, just set that up as dedicated.

if you have messaging, at the auto attendant just dial **10

the above post too.
