Hi

We are trialling SIP as a means of getting lower cost calls and reducing our nead for ISDN30 channels however, the users have a small issue with Dial Delay time...

As SIP has to have the whole number before it can dial our system is set to have a 2 second DDTime and DDCount of 15 (includes International calls) - set in the System Telephony Tab

2 seconds is barely enough for some to look at and dial the number leading to complaints

2 seconds introduces a significant delay in transferring calls leading to complaints

How can I resolve this to give, say 4 seconds for those dialing out via SIP whilst giving (almost) instant dialing for internal calls?

TIA

Andrew

have you definatly setup the sip shortcode properly?

please could you post, we have dial delay time 3 and dial delay coun 0 and no issues whatsoever

we dial straight (no 9 for outside line) so the shortcode is just

? dial . Line Group ID 55 (ARS - has a DDT of 5 seconds)

If the SIP line is busy then it uses the Alternative Route..

Leave the ?/Dail/./ARS in.

Create a new shortcode

N;/Dial/N/ARS (or try 0XXXXXN;/Dial/0N/ARS)
Now you can leave the DDT 1 sec and the DDC 4 like default.

ok

? . Dail goes to ARS 55

in ARS 55 you have a sip shortcode

what is it? (should look like this as bas1234 said - N;/Dial/N/ARS )

and then if this fails it then goes over to another ARS (say 56)

with

? . Dial Line Group ID 0 (PRI)

or is this not how you have it setup

ARS55 says:

0XXXXXXXXXX Dial ."@synergy.voip.co.uk;user=phone" Group 10

fall over is 51 LCR1

which is
? Dial . Group 0

I've put a 5 second delay on ARS 55 (it's easier to tell the difference when you've got time to count to 5!) and it appears to be working with the decreased System DDT/C at 1/4

try in ARS 55

N;

DIAL

N"@synergy.voip.co.uk;user=phone"

GROUP ID 10 (Sip Line)

not sure what this is = ;user=phone if this does not work removing this but thats only a stab in the dark as not sure what this is

Thanks everyone

it's worked - now I just need to work out what I've done!!

internal numbers are instant, outgoing numbers have a 5 second wait ...

thanks again - superb forum and excellent resource for us 1 man support departments!! :)

it was just your shortcode in you ARS 55 for you SIP that was the issue...

everythig else looked fine as you described it,
