Quick question, when programming the directory name, can one use WinSPM or do we have to use the Merlin Messaging system? I tried looking in WinSPM but did not see anywhere where I can type the directory name for an extension.

This is for Merlin Magix Release 7.0 Hybrid/PBX.

Thanks,

I know I just wish they had a GUI for it. Entering more than 100 users is a tedious process.

There is a GUI. You need to connect to it via IP. Its still a lot faster to add them via phone though.

Is that using the Partner Messaging System Administration? The program was installed but the phone system was not connected to the network. If that is the case regarding speed, I will enter by phone. I would like to connect to network though and play with the program. Does it need a special patch cable or can a CAT5 work fine? I remember only seeing threads of users showing the pin layout to bypass the 355A adapter.

Thanks!

You need merlin messaging system admin. It doesn't need to be on the network, you could connect to it with an ethernet crossover cable. If you want to put it on the network, you can get into the serial port and change the IP settings.

Ok, I connect to WinSPM using serial so I inserted into Messaging module, connected changed the ip address...etc. I then went to login the messaging system using system administration release 7.0. It then states the messaging system is older than the software and cannot be used. I checked the release on the system by dialing into admin mailbox prompt 7 and the lady says release 2 5 13 language 2 5 3. So I go to avaya's site to download the software and I need to register. I registered and now when I try to download software it states that I do not have a sold to number associated with this account. I figure I need system administration release 2.0? If not please let me know cause I will be googling downloads for this version.

Thanks,

There is no such thing as Magix R7.

If you have Merlin Messaging 4.0 the you use Merlin Messaging 4.0 System Admin.
If you have Merlin Messaging 3.0 the you use Merlin Messaging 3.0 System Admin.
If you have Partner Messaging 7.0 the you use Partner Messaging 7.0 System Admin.
If you have Partner Messaging 6.0 the you use Partner Messaging 6.0 System Admin.

OK, TIME OUT ! !

ALL BETS ARE OFF UNTIL & UNLESS you tell us exactly what you are working on.

Merlin Magix or Legend - WHAT REALEASE !

Merlin Messaging or Merlin Mail or ???? - TELL US THIS ANSWER ALSO.

It could be a VERY EASY THING to do, but we need to know what it is that you are working on.

according to his post it is a 2.5.13 which makes it a merlin messaging.

Thank you ttech, I will download the software and install. You understood exactly what I needed by reading all the posts and accurately posting a solution.

ttech, is it possible for you to send me merlin messaging 4.0 link to software? I have two sites one which you helped me out with already and the other. I figured it would be 2.5 version but when I connected it stated new messaging system, older software. check admin mailbox and software version 4.0.42 language version 4.0.0.

thanks in advance!

Sometimes it hard to give an answer to a question when the person asking it doesn't know the question.

Go to the Avaya.com website. Two lines under "Get Support", click on "documentation". When the alphabet bar appears across your screen - click on M - scroll down to Merlin Messaging and click on it. Change the deafult release form 4.0 to 2.5 and click on the Go arrow. Click on "View all Documents", click on the R2.5 Admin Software - and download it - and install it. You may also want to go back and get the admin software installation/documentation notes.

Thanks Tom! Once again you have shined the light well. I find it weird one needs to go to documentation rather than downloads to download the needed software. Now that I know how to navigate Avaya's site, all should be well.
