Maybe I'm missing the obvious. DBN is setup for everyone via first names and I now have two new people that just started, both with the same first names. What is the best way to set this up, as it is now each receives some of the others calls. I thought about first names plus last initial, but its unlikely that either persons callers would know their last names.

The callers should know the person's voice.

So, have the parties each record their own name in their mailbox, and thus when the caller hears "JOHN JONES", it will be different than "JOHN SMITH", and it will be in the voice they know.

Well that was kind of what i expected, except here is what is happening.

Both persons names are Michael, when you dbn michael sometimes it goes to michael#1 voicemail, sometimes michael#2 we need to give callers a choice at that stage but I have been unable to find a way to do it. Seems to me on other Avaya systems if there are two identical dbn's listed it automatically gives a choice to the callers. As it is, its just randomly choosing one or the other. If the caller pays close attention to the vm greeting I suppose they could get out and try again, but thats a hassle.

Thanks....

Well, now we gotta' get into just what it is you are working with....

Please fill in the BLANKS:

The voice mail is a ________________.

The telephone system is a __________________.

Let us know and we can go from here.

Voicemail is a Merlin Messaging r3 (4 port) installed in a Merlin Magix with the CKE5 Processor.

Thanks for the help

When the caller types in "michael" and presses #, the system should come back and say "Two matches were found for the name entered. Press 1 for (And now you hear the name that Michael No. 1 recorded when his mailbox was logged into for the very first time), press 2 for (and now you hear the name that Michael No. 2 recorded when his mailbox was logged into for the very first time)"

I would go to the System Administrator's mailbox, select 2 for extensions, 1 for name, 1 for recorded name, and 1 again to listen to what has been recorded for each of these mailboxes. If they have not recorded their names properly, you can do it for them from there, or MAKE them go to their own mailboxes, select 3 for Name or Greeting, 2 for Name, and re-record it right.

No name recordings = no de-France.
