Hello!

I updated Labels via WinSPM and even though the new names display properly on the individual phones as well as the Operator's Directory, the Dial By Name doesn't recognize them.

We only use Dial By Name with our Night Attendant. And, in case it makes any difference, I updated the Labels because the system wouldn't recognize the names when they had last initials -- "Mike C" or "Al R".

All suggestions / solutions welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks from Houston, TX.

I must ask, what Release of System, and what kind of Voice Mail?

Well, the dial-by-name is a function of the Voice Mail system, whatever you are using. Changing them in the Directory through WinSPM won't change them in the Voice Mail.

Except for the latest Magix & Mer Messaging, but you gotta' tell it (MAGIX) to update.

If he has the option to update labels...then he has the right type of Magix. Does he have the right type of messaging is the question. The other question I have is what happens when you have charaters in the label on the Magix? Such as the . or ,? I have used this feature and sometimes it works....sometimes it didn't. Of course, we are all assuming you have your Vm calling group set-up as the last calling group (7929)..unless you renumbered it, and all the extensions are asigned to Coverage group 30

Dial by name is a function of the Voice Mail system, not the phone system. Changing the "label" on the phone doesn't change the"directory listing" on the VOice Mail System, They must be done separately.

Pepperz,

starting with the Merlin Magix R2.2 and the Merlin Messaging R2.2, you have an option under System called M msg or something like that..F10 to be exact, under that, you can add all the extensions and labels defined in the Magix in coverage group 30 to the messaging with this option. No more need to add all extensions individualy. This option will assign mailbox's for each extension with a phone attached.
