Dial By Name directory *2. The machine message says "Please enter parties name, you may enter up to 10 letters followed by the # sign" First can that be changed? If so how? It does not specify last name or first name. My clients callers are getting confused, do they dial 10 letters of the first name or the last name. Some of the callers do no know the first name, though they know the last name, vesa versa. How do I get around this?

If you know your party's extension number, please enter it now
To search for your party by FIRST NAME, press *2
To hear a listing of extensions, press 5"

*2 and its canned recording cannot be changed, but you have told your callers that they will be dialing by FIRST (or last if that's what you set up) Name.

Send Selector Code 5 to a Submenu (I'd use 5 just to have it match the selector code), and record its greeting
"For Fred Flintstone, dial Ext. 101
For Barney Rubble, dial Ext. 102
To reach Mr. Spacely, dial Ext. 103
etc...."
And don't forget to set the selector codes in the Submenu to Direct Extension Transfer so they can dial out from there.

TTT thank you as always. What if the caller does not know the first name of the person they are calling, what if they know them by their last name. This is a medical clinic. The caller knows the doctor by their last name, Dr. Jones, Dr Smith, etc. Can you include somehow the Doctor's last name and first Name? Some callers know the called person by their last name.

Work within the capabilities of the system. It is a dial by NAME directory, not first name or last name. So you're going to have to pick one, and stick with it. That's why the subdirectory may be the easier way to go. You can even nest submenus.

For a directory of extensions, press _____......

----....For Dr. Smith, dial Ext. XXX
----....For Dr. Jones, dial Ext. YYY....
----For a listing of Physician's Assistants, press _____
----....For Fred, dial Ext. XXX
