dial by last name

on partner version IPO. where is the persons first and last named programed into the system, for use in the dial by last name from AA?

IPO usually has a name and a full name field
the full name is first name - space - last name so that the system knows what is what.
I have not touched the partner version yet (I am quite happy about that) but I guess it is the same way.

Auto Attendant Setup


This menu is accessed from the System page by selecting Administer Auto Attendant.

This menu is accessed from the Admin Tasks list by selecting Auto Attendant Setup.

Items marked with a icon can be programmed from a phone extension.


This menu is used to configure the auto attendant facilities provided by the phone system. The auto attendant can be selected as the Call Destination for incoming lines.

yes I saw the first or last name option, but I was wondering where the name itself, is inputed into the system. Is it the extension name?

I would assume so as it is the only place I could see to put the name.

What westi said is true however it is presented in a different formt for the Partner version. The help file does not clearly say that the Name Field is used as the dial by name entry but IPO operates in the same fashion so the help file could be clearer.

Name: Default = Blank.
Use this field to enter the extension user's full name. The recommended format is <first name><space><last name>. When set, the Name is used for display by phones and within these menus, otherwise ExtnXXX is shown. Only alphanumeric characters and spaces are supported in this field. Do not use punctuation characters such as #, ?, /, -, _ , ^, > and ,. The entry in this field should not start with a space or number.
