Hello to all:

I am setting up a new, fully loaded Parter ACS 8.0 system with 3- 308E cards and a 6 port Partner Messaging in a five slot rack, all phones are 18D's.

This system is replacing an old Merlin Magix system that has seen better days.

I am trying to accomplish two things here.

1. I have set the system up in Hybrid mode and see how the Pool buttons work on the 18D's. (All of my installs so far have been Key systems.) However, the customer is used to dialing a 9 to get an outside line and they would prefer doing that way. I can't seem to find out how to change the settings to have to dial 9 instead of pressing a Pool button on the phone.

Can this be done?

Next issue:

2. The Merlin Magix system allowed the customer to call in on a "backdoor" line that allowed them to change their extension so all calls to that extension are forwarded to their cell phone. I have read how to do it with a button on the phone, but they want to be able to do this from outside the office.

The way they do this now is:

a. Dial the "Back Door" phone number.
b. the system gives some beeps
c. they dial a password
d. they dial *33
e. they dial their extension number
f. they enter the outside number they want their calls forwarded. to.

Is this possible on the Partner Messaging?

Thanks to all who respond!

For dial 9, just use auto-line select to select the two intercom lines first. Then, when they go off-hook, they will grab intrecom tone, press 9 will jump them to the pool buttons.

For forwarding, they are out of luck as far as I know. You can only activate that from the telephone itself.

All of those good features are only available on the Legend/Magix switches. The Partner can't hold a candle to the Legend/Magix! That was an unfortunate downgrade!

Magix systems are still very serviceable!

Even though it has been discontinued, the Magix platform still has lots of life left in it. There is a ton of refurbished hardware available from online dealers. If you still have the Magix hardware, determine what needs to be replaced, and check out some of the popular dealers like:

The R4 was the final release for the processor and Avaya Merlin Messaging.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

You may need to look at an ip office system instead for remote acces to call forward extensions or use mobile twinning, partner won't do it..as far as dial nine telecomboy has that pretty much nailed..good luck!

Thanks to all who posted.

A little more info on this situation....

Telecomboy had the right answer for the dial 9 part. Thanks!

I agree that an IP Office system would be a much better solution here, however, I didn't sell this system, I was just asked to install it. During the course of discussion I highly suggested they go the IP Office route, but they didn't want to spend the extra money.

The Merlin system is a good system, but this system had been in place for a long time and the customer never did like it. They had trouble even with Avaya techs to get it programmed the way they wanted. So this was their way of changing.
