diabling backups

I believe Networker was installed on our SUN box along with Oracle 8 or 8i. We have no tape drives attached to this box, but Networker continually issues messages about waiting for a tape mount. We would like to disable this feature. I attempt to access the manuals for NetWorker for UNIX but could not access the URL.

PErhaps it came with a Veritas product. I'm not sure.

Try running /etc/init.d/networker stop. This should close down the following daemons.......

12217 ? S 0:09 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrexecd -s jupiter
12221 ? S 2:23 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrd
12230 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrmmdbd
12231 ? S 0:01 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrindexd
12232 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrmmd -n 1
12234 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrmmd -n 2

To stop it starting up at the next load delete the file
/etc/init.d/networker ( after copying it first !)

You can also remove the software packages SUWbuc, SUNWbum,
SUNWsbun SUNWsbus1 and SUNWsbus2
