Hi, hopefully this is fairly straightforward...

I need to install multiple vlans on one l3 switch and have the clients get the IP from a dhcp server. As i understand it all i need is a decent l3 switch that will allow me to set up ip helpers pointed to the dhcp server. but i have two questions:

1) will sbs 2008 dhcp support the correct type of multiple scops that i need? ie can i configure scopes for vlans in sbs or do i need full server 2008
2) whether its in sbs 2008 or just 2008 can anyone give me a point in the right direction on how i configure dhcp scopes for vlans? i've had a poke round and i cant see the settings anywhere.

thanks!

SBS will support the kind of multiple scopes you need. It's implementation of DHCP is identical in every way to a full Windows 2008 Server.

Each VLAN is on its own subnet, right? So just create a separate scope for each subnet. You will also want to configure DHCP Helper on the switch to make sure that the SBS 2008 server is able to receive the DHCP requests from clients on different subnets than the server interface.
