I am trying to upgrade the firmware in our 1140 sets from C6E to C60. Some sets have VoiceVlan = LLDP MED and these sets will not accept the upgrade. (If I change VoiceVlan to our actual vlan number, then the upgrade works.)

My question is: what is the correct syntax in the DHCP server to have "voicevlan=260" ? Is that the correct sting or is is "vlanv" or something else?

Help!!!!!!

And thanks!!!

This is some info I found on another site (should work for you):

You'll need to configure DHCP option 191 (string) with the following syntax;

VLAN-A:vvvv.

Where: "VLAN-A" Option 191 begins with this string for all Nortel IP phones.
"vvvv" The VLAN ID for the voice VLAN in decimal

Here's an example if I were trying to assign the phones with a voice VLAN of 260;

VLAN-A:260.
There must be a colon :)) seperating the VLAN-A from the VLAN ID. The string must also end in a period. It may be necessary, depending on your DHCP server, to enclose the enter string in quotation marks.

Thanks Tman45 !! Here is our current string:

Nortel-i2004-A,AAA.BBB.CC.DDD:4100,1,5;AAA.BBB.CC.DDD:4100,1,5. (where ABCD is our IP node).

If I understand you correctly, I would then change it to:

Nortel-i2004-A:260,AAA.BBB.CC.DDD:4100,1,5;AAA.BBB.CC.DDD:4100,1,5.

Or should there be a colon after the 260?

Thanks again!!!

Maybe this link will help?
Looks to me like you add a separate string. You do NOT include it in the first string:
Nortel-i2004-A,10.1.10.10:4100,1,5;

Sorry I don't do the DHCP string piece and we don't have our DHCP setup to hand out the V-LAN - but I would like our group to change it so it is :)
