I have AIX4.2 is there anyway that the system could be run as a DHCP server. I ran smit tcpip, but it seems that it could only be use as a dhcp client, thanks

Hi
It is possible that already any dhcp server working in your local Domain already. Also check /etc/dhcpcd.ini file's settings.Use smit dhcp in any case.

No there is no dhcp server install currently. I saw this service call dhcpsd and gives a option to start it.

Well does anybody know how to setup a dhcp server in AIX, thanks

Are there any AIX network admins out there, please help, but thanks for others who helped.

You can set up AIX like an DHCP client, a SERVER or a RELAY agent... simply read your documentation: [tt]man dhcpsd[/tt]...

I hope it works...

(By the way, dhcpsd is the DHCP Server daemon, dhcpcd is the DHCP Client daemon, and dhcprd is the DHCP Relay daemon)

Thanks, ElgisRamon for the info. I'll give it a try!
