DHCP Server Problem

I a lot of Window 98 PC's are being assigned the wrong subnet, they are getting a correct IP address but for some reason if i do a WINIPCFG i can see that they have a sometimes an /8 bit subnet or a /16 bit subnet.
In the scope i have put that it is a /24 bit subnet.

Some of the PC's seem to be alright others are not, all are using a 3com network card.

If i do a Release and then a Renew the subnet then becomes the correct /24 bit subnet.

Any ideas what the hell might be causing this.

I only have one active DHCP Server on our network and that is a W2K SP3 Server.

Thanks
James
