When you go into the DHCP snap-in, right click on server options, go to configure options, under the general tab, what does "005 Name Servers" have to do with anything? If I have DNS and WINS in there, do i have to bother with "Name Servers"?

Hi,

005 Name Servers is used to set resolution to IEN 116 name servers up.

What does that mean?? To be honest I'm not really sure. All I know is that it isn't very widely used anymore - it is pre-DNS . It was used years ago on Unix servers but wasn't up to the job so DNS took over.

To answer your question, no don't bother.

*Internet History Alert* IEN-116 stands for Internet Experiment Notes, Document 116, which happens to describe the protocol for Name Servers.

However do not forget to fill in 015.
