I'm trying to figure out if its possible with Checkpoint that you can have one main dhcp server serving many different vlans and network.

So you can have the dhcp server giving out
10.0.0.0
255.255.255.0
Vlan 10

and

192.168.0.0
255.255.255.0
Vlan 20

All through the checkpoint fw1. I read that cisco routers have a feature called IP Helper-Address which helps the dhcp server determine from which network it should give out. Can checkpoint do the same?

What OS is your CP running on? This is partially done on the OS level and the remainder on the CP. CP you'd setup the rules to allow the traffic to pass through. The OS (IPSO, Sun, etc) you'd configure the IPhelper(or similiar cmd) to allow. The way we've done it, is the firewall is just allowing the DHCP traffic to pass through and we have a switch performing the UDP forwarding.

good luck

But since I dont know much linux I'm going to solve this differently. Create one Windows machine on our Vmware setup, install one nic for each vlan that needs to be serviced. Create the dhcp service for each of those nics.

Should work :)
thanks for the help
