Hey guys,

A quick question, that I haven't be able to find the answer to elsewhere.

I'm trying to setup some thin clients to boot up a Thinstation image via PXE. This requires that the DHCP server be able to provide 2 options:

1. Option 66 - TFTP (boot) server
2. Option 67 - Boot File

To my dismay when going to configure this on a 5505 I found that you can set Option 66 but not Option 67.

Outside of Cisco including 67 in a list of non-supported options in their built in server does anyone know the reasoning behind this?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

I was thinking along similar lines, but I don't see how removing the option would assist them, even if their phones don't require it. Security reason? Locking out competing phones? Potential for misconfiguration of their phones if someone's configured a bootfile and the phone uses it?

Beats me. It's a shame though, because now I have to make use of a DHCP relay just to get a single DHCP option.
